Paralympic Runner

Last week I was priveleged to meet David Devine (1500m 3.50) who on Tuesday at the BMC thought for a while he had broken the World record for his classification;Visually impaired.
The remarkable thing about David is that he is blind in one eye and has partial sight in the other. If you,ve ever tried running or have run his PB then you will know they are not hanging about. It can only be done , in my opinion , with regular proper training which requires someone who knows what they are doing to plan that.Far too many young people are looking for excuses to not exercise at all , never mind take on a 1500m in this sort of time.
I suppose there will be many who think that the Paralympics is just a mickey mouse event and its just alot of P.C. again but this guy makes you sit up and take notice. He could have copped out and used his sight problems to take all the help he can get and wrap himself in cotton wool.He didn't.respect to the man .I watched him train with his coach and you wouldn't guess he had a problem at all.No excuses from this man- hes a competitor.
