US athlete slags off GB system as being SOFT !
This week US hurdler David Oliver stated that he thought the system of grants given to GB athletes made them soft! He claimed that he started the season doing times they aspire to and think are good.The guy worked in a shoe shop in the US to fund his training and had to fit everything around his job.He has been scathing about EUROPEAN HURDLING this week but his claims re his times were not quite accurate.Is he a 'SHOW OFF' just gobbing off,is he cranking up the pressure on his rivals or does he have a point.Strangely one of his rivals European Gold medallist Andy Turner actually lost his funding pror to this year and has since won it back on the strength of his performances.Jenny Meadows wasnt a podium athlete going into the world champs last year but now is on the list.How come Mike Rimmer who was a medallist in Barcelona is only a development athlete? Doesnt seem that soft to an outside observer.
